
KARACHI: Chinese Consul General in Karachi, Yang Yundong, said China remains committed to sharing the benefits of its progress with all countries, including Pakistan, and called for strengthened bilateral cooperation in 2026, the year marking 75 years of diplomatic relations between the two nations.

Speaking at a Chinese New Year media reception at the Chinese Consulate, Yang highlighted that both countries should work with “renewed momentum and unremitting efforts — just like a galloping horse.”
He referred to Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar’s visit to China from January 3–5, during which he co-chaired the 7th China-Pakistan Foreign Ministers’ Strategic Dialogue with Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi. The visit marked the first high-level foreign leader visit to China in 2026.

Yang said the dialogue reinforced strategic communication, deepened mutual trust, and underscored joint efforts to safeguard common interests and promote economic and social development in the region. Both sides welcomed third-party participation in CPEC projects and reaffirmed their commitment to an upgraded CPEC 2.0.
Key areas of focus include industry, agriculture, mining, and the development and operation of Gwadar Port. The leaders also stressed ensuring smooth passage on the Karakoram Highway and enhancing Pakistan’s sustainable development capacity.
“China regards its relationship with Pakistan as unique and a top priority,” Yang said, calling the 75th anniversary a chance to enhance the contemporary value, social foundation, and development prospects of the China-Pakistan All-Weather Strategic Cooperative Partnership.

He added that despite changing global circumstances, the friendship between China and Pakistan has endured and strengthened over time, describing it as “refined into pure gold through trials and tribulations.”
Yang concluded by urging both countries to seize the anniversary as an opportunity to deepen cooperation for the benefit of their peoples.
