Minister for Information and Broadcasting Attaullah Tarar on Friday said that Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI), divided into different groups, is not serious for dialogue with the government.
Addressing a news conference in Islamabad, while flanked by Pakistan Muslim League-N (PML-N) leader Zahid Khan, he emphasised that there should be dialogue but the PTI must first abandon its negative posture against the state institutions.
The information minister regretted that the PTI is neither interested in the welfare of the people nor want to bring the political temperature down.
“The PTI government in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa has no roadmap to bring reforms in any sector be it education or health,” he said, adding that the governance in KP has collapsed.
Referring to an appearance of Special Assistant to the Chief Minister for Information and Public Relations Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Shafi Jan where he avoided denouncing the Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) outright, he lambasted the opposition party for not condemning the terrorist outfit.
Tarar said Pakistan will win the war against terrorism. He added that the terrorists have no capacity to hit the hard targets.
As regards the year 2025, the minister said it was the year of achievements in every respect for Pakistan. He said it was the year of military might as well as the economic revival.
Alluding to Pakistan’s decisive victory in Marka-e-Haq, he said there is an international certification of the fact that Pakistan Air Force (PAF) shot down seven Indian fighter jets.
He mentioned that the Pakistan Stock Market is setting new records which reflect the confidence of investors and businesses in Pakistan’s economy. He also said 3.6 billion dollars were received in remittances last month. He appreciated overseas Pakistanis for sending record remittances to the country. “There is also increase in foreign exchange reserves and efforts are afoot to bring foreign direct investment in the country,” he said.
The information minister said the world now looks up to Pakistan with great respect in view of the country’s serious political and military leadership.
He criticized KP’s governance, pointing out that while Punjab and Sindh established forensic labs and universities, KP failed to introduce similar reforms. Even after 13 years, he said, health facilities in South Waziristan remain incomplete, with only one hospital and a single female doctor serving Tank.
Reports highlight lack of clean water, understaffed universities, and 4.9 million students deprived of facilities across 22,000 schools. Health services in Timargarah also remain inadequate.
He said the PTI is completely stunned by the progress of Pakistan under the leadership of Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, who had restored the country’s integrity at international level.
Tarar said Pakistan’s dignity was reflected in official invitations, guard of honor ceremonies, and international cooperation in defense and trade. He contrasted this with past arrogance that led to strained relations and isolation, noting that today
Pakistan is welcomed with red carpets at major forums and summits.
He said the year 2025 marked by numerous successes for Pakistan. In this year, the country had achieved a decisive victory in the “Battle of Truth” (Maarka-e-Haq) under the leadership of Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir.
Tarar praised overseas Pakistanis for sending record remittances despite boycott calls, strengthening national stability.
He said Pakistan currently holds import cover for several months which is a sign of economic resilience.
The minister said there was a time when the country stood on the brink of default with a sharp decline in foreign exchange reserves, devaluation of Pakistani rupee, stagnation in business activities, a halt in exports and the non-opening of LCs.
