Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif met Pakistan’s Under-19 cricket team, winners of the Asia Cup, and announced a reward of PKR 1 crore (approximately $1 million) for each player. The PM hosted a lunch in their honor, congratulating players and management on their stunning victory against India.
Chairman PCB Mohsin Naqvi and federal ministers also attended the event. Shehbaz praised the team’s passion and performance, saying it made all Pakistanis proud. He expressed hope the team will continue its success and bring the Under-19 World Cup to Pakistan.
Head coach Shahid Anwar said the process began on June 17, 2025, with trials for 70 players. After selection camps, 30 players were finalized for the Asia Cup, with the goal of winning the trophy and hearts of fans. Star cricketer Sarfraz Ahmed lauded the players’ hard work and said the PM’s announcement motivated the team further.
Captain Farhan Yousuf credited the management’s support for their success, saying all players contributed to the Asia Cup victory. Batsman Sameer Minhas explained their simple plan was to spend time on the crease and play freely, which helped them score crucial runs, especially against India.

Sarfraz Ahmed highlighted the team’s discipline and sportsmanship, noting that despite India’s aggressive approach, Pakistan focused on its game. He praised the collective performance, saying the victory was possible only through teamwork and determination.
