Islamabad police on Wednesday arrested an Afghan national who was found impersonating a US embassy official inside the Diplomatic Enclave while carrying a fake identification card.
The suspect, identified as Haris, entered the enclave through Gate No. 2 accompanied by two women, prompting law enforcement and intelligence agencies, already monitoring him, to intervene immediately.
Police sources revealed that Haris is wanted in multiple fraud cases and had previously been the subject of complaints lodged by the US embassy regarding his suspicious activities.

With the assistance of intelligence agencies, law enforcement detained the suspect and shifted him to Secretariat Police Station for further investigation and legal action under strict security measures.
Authorities are continuing detailed inquiries to determine the full extent of Haris’s activities, assess any potential security threats, and identify whether he had accomplices in the city or enclave.
Investigators also confirmed that the case highlights the need for stricter verification and monitoring of personnel entering diplomatic areas, reinforcing the security protocols within sensitive government and foreign premises.
