What did Pakistanis Google the most this year? Search records reveal all

Google’s Year in Search 2025 paints a vivid picture of what captured Pakistan’s attention online, with searches spanning from Pakistan’s ever-lasting love of cricket and athletes to quick recipes and curious how-to queries.

Cricket continues to lead Pakistan’s search trends for another year, with major matchups and tournaments dominating online curiosity. Fans actively searched for fixtures like Pakistan’s matches against South Africa, India and New Zealand. Among major tournaments, Pakistan’s homegrown “Pakistan Super League” remained the most popular tournament alongside “Asia Cup” and the “ICC Champions Trophy”, reflecting the nation’s unwavering enthusiasm for cricket and particularly its local league.

As expected, cricketing athletes captured the attention of Pakistanis as well. Fans mostly searched and followed emerging talents like “Abhishek Sharma”, “Hassan Nawaz” and “Irfan Khan Niazi” whose performances throughout 2025 kept fans talking.

Apart from cricket, Pakistanis switched to local dramas for some more entertainment. Dramas remained a favourite topic of interest for Pakistani viewers in 2025, with audiences eagerly following the storylines and performances that kept them hooked. Popular dramas such as ‘Sher,’ ‘Judwaa’ and ‘Aas Paas’ dominated search trends, reflecting the nation’s love for engaging narratives, compelling characters and memorable on-screen moments.

On the tech front, searches for AI tools like “Gemini”, “On4t” and “Google AI Studio” highlighted Pakistanis’ growing interest in artificial intelligence. Once again, reflecting cricket’s grip in Pakistan, the streaming apps like “myco” and “Tamasha” remained popular choices to search and stream cricket matches. Trending searches for “non-fungible tokens” reflected a desire to explore emerging digital innovations.

In 2025, Pakistanis also increasingly turned to Google Search for real-time updates on the issues that mattered most in their daily lives. Critical topics such as the Karachi floods and the flooding near the Chenab River saw a surge in searches, with people looking for the latest alerts, safety information, and on-ground developments. Users also sought clarity on key government initiatives like the Punjab Socio-Economic Registry, “Asaan Karobar Card” and the “Prime Minister’s Laptop Scheme 2025”. Educational updates-including “FBISE” and other exam results remained heavily searched, while economic indicators like gold rates and international developments, including news from “Iran”, kept Pakistanis informed.

Pakistan’s recipe searches showed a blend of tradition and modern tastes. Classic comfort foods like mutton, beef, sweet dishes, dough items and soups remained popular, reflecting strong cultural roots. At the same time, rising interest in quinoa, tofu and sandwiches pointed to a shift toward healthier, quicker and more global flavours.

In the How-to category, nothing sparked more curiosity than Karachi’s newly introduced e-challans. People from all over Pakistan jumped online to decode this sudden wave of traffic strictness, eager to see what the alerts meant and how the process worked. Beyond this nationwide discussion, Pakistanis also explored a mix of fun and practical searches-from navigating car insurance, dabbling in investments and even creating Ghibli-style photos, reflecting a country that stays curious, adaptable and digitally engaged.
