Pakistan set for January T20I tour of Sri Lanka

Published on: December 2, 2025 9:15 PM

Pakistan will tour Sri Lanka in January for a three-match T20I series ahead of the 2026 World Cup. The matches are scheduled for January 7, 9, and 11 at the Rangiri Dambulla International Cricket Stadium. The tour aims to provide Pakistan with valuable match practice before the global event.

The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) confirmed the schedule on Tuesday. Pakistan is placed in Group ‘A’ for the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2026. All World Cup fixtures for the team will be played in Colombo, Sri Lanka.

The ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2026 will run from February 7 to March 8. Pakistan recently won a T20I tri-series against Sri Lanka in November. They defeated Sri Lanka by six wickets in the final, showcasing strong form ahead of the World Cup.

Zimbabwe participated in the tri-series but finished last after losing three of four matches. Sri Lanka failed to mount a challenge in the final, posting a below-par total. Pakistan’s openers, Saim Ayub (36) and Sahibzada Farhan (23), gave a solid start with a 46-run opening partnership.

The upcoming T20I series will allow Pakistan to test combinations and sharpen their skills. Analysts say the tour could be crucial for finalizing the squad and strategies for the 2026 World Cup. Fans will watch closely as Pakistan looks to continue its winning momentum.
