Published on: December 1, 2025 1:07 AM

Minister for Foreign Affairs, Emigration and Expatriates of Egypt Dr Badr Ahmed Mohamed Abdelatty, called on President Asif Ali Zardari, at Aiwan e Sadr here Sunday and discussed matters of mutual interest.

The President said Pakistan values its longstanding ties with Egypt, which are rooted in shared faith and mutual respect, and looks forward to advancing the relationship in a more structured and forward-looking direction. He also conveyed warm greetings for President Abdel Fattah El Sisi.

The President noted that this year marks 77 years of diplomatic relations between the two countries and expressed the hope that both sides would reinvigorate cooperation in trade, investment and people-to-people exchanges. He encouraged greater Egyptian investment in sectors where opportunities are expanding, including energy, logistics, construction, agriculture, mining and IT.

Dr Badr Ahmed Mohamed Abdelatty delivered a message from the Egyptian President and expressed Egypt’s keen interest in expanding its partnership with Pakistan in various fields.

The two sides also exchanged views on key regional and international issues, reaffirming their resolve to work together for peace, stability and prosperity.

Earlier, the two leaders held a one-on-one meeting and exchanged views on key issues of mutual interest.

Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Senator Mohammad Ishaq Dar,, Senator Sherry Rehman, Syed Nayyar Hussain Bukhari and the Secretary Foreign Affairs attended the meeting. The Ambassador of Egypt to Pakistan, Dr Ihab Mohamed Abdelhamid Hassan, was also present.

President Asif Ali Zardari, Sunday, expressed deep sorrow over the loss of life and widespread displacement caused by severe flooding across Southeast Asia.

The president said the tragedy, which claimed hundreds of lives and left many missing, brought great distress to the people of Pakistan. He conveyed heartfelt condolences to the families who have lost loved ones and to the governments and people of Indonesia, Malaysia and Thailand, President Secretariat Media Wing said in a press release.

The president noted that Pakistan understood the pain and uncertainty caused by such disasters, as it continued to face climate driven catastrophes of its own. He said the scenes of submerged communities and families forced from their homes were a reminder of shared human vulnerability and the growing impact of extreme weather across the region.

President Zardari said Pakistan would stay closely engaged with regional partners and international organisations to explore practical ways of offering support within its means.

He said Pakistan stood by the affected countries as they navigate this crisis. He prayed for the departed and for the safe recovery of those missing.
