Turkish Military Plane Crash in Georgia

A Turkish military plane crash in Georgia killed several people on Tuesday. The C-130 cargo plane took off from Azerbaijan and then went down near the Georgia-Azerbaijan border. Turkey’s defense ministry confirmed the crash and began coordination with Georgian authorities. Search and rescue teams were sent to the crash site. Officials have not shared how many people died in the incident.

President Recep Tayyip Erdogan learned about the tragedy while giving a speech in Ankara. He expressed deep sorrow and offered condolences for “our martyrs.” Erdogan asked the nation to pray for the victims and their families. He also said Turkey will face this challenge with strength. However, he gave no further details regarding the cause of the crash.

The defense ministry said it is working closely with local authorities. Georgian officials also traveled toward the crash location. Interior Minister Ali Yerlikaya confirmed he spoke with his Georgian counterpart. Teams are expected to continue the search in difficult terrain as weather conditions impact access.

Local media reported that both Turkish and Azerbaijani crew members were on board. They did not provide exact numbers. Officials have not commented on whether the plane sent a distress signal before impact. The lack of details has increased speculation, but the investigation has only just begun. The focus remains on recovery and identifying victims.
