Beverage truck overturns, killing four family members

Published on: November 3, 2025 11:40 PM

Four members of a family were killed in a road accident when a speedy beverage truck overturned and smashed an auto rickshaw in the Sanda area of Lahore last night.

Distressing footage from the scene showed bystanders collecting soft drink bottles scattered from the vehicle rather than assisting the victims.

The FIR was lodged at Sanda police station on the complaint of the father of a woman killed in the accident. According to the complainant, his daughter Iqra was travelling in an auto rickshaw with her husband, in-laws and two children when a speeding Mazda truck struck the rickshaw and overturned it. Iqra, her husband, and her in-laws (husband’s parents) died on the spot. Luckily, both children were unhurt.

The complainant alleged negligence by the truck driver and sought legal action.

Punjab Law Minister Rana Muhammad Iqbal took notice of the crash and sought a detailed report from the police and district authorities. He expressed grief over the loss of lives and directed officials to determine responsibility and provide the injured with the best medical care. He also called for stricter traffic enforcement to prevent such incidents.

A case has been registered late at night after the accident that claimed the lives of four members of the same family.

Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif has expressed deep grief and sorrow over the tragic death of four members of the same family in a traffic accident in Lahore, after a truck overturned onto a rickshaw.

The CM extended her heartfelt sympathies and condolences to the bereaved family and prayed for the departed souls. She also sought a detailed report on the incident from the authorities concerned and directed that the affected family be fully assisted.
