Federal Minister for Communications Abdul Aleem Khan held meetings with officials from Türkiye, Saudi Arabia, and Sri Lanka. He focused on improving transport links, logistics cooperation, and regional trade partnerships. The discussions aimed to enhance connectivity and promote economic growth across South Asia and the Middle East. Khan emphasized Pakistan’s commitment to building stronger regional transport networks.
In talks with Turkish Transport Minister Abdul Kadir Oglu, both sides agreed to expand cooperation through the National Logistics Cell (NLC). Khan praised Turkey’s infrastructure development and highlighted the deep friendship between the two nations. He also appointed the Chairman of the National Highway Authority to oversee Pak-Turkey transport projects. These measures aim to ensure smoother logistics and trade flows between the countries.
Khan met Saudi Deputy Minister Rumi Al-Rumi to further regional cooperation. They discussed sustainable transport infrastructure and business partnerships. Saudi Arabia welcomed Pakistan’s role in the Regional Ministers Transport Conference and invited Khan for an official visit. Both countries agreed to explore ways to improve connectivity for trade and people-to-people links.
Khan assured Sri Lanka of Pakistan’s full support for port and logistics development projects. He offered technical help for modernizing buses and establishing logistics centers. Pakistani organizations, including NLC and FWO, could contribute to Sri Lanka’s transport modernization plans. These efforts aim to strengthen regional ties and facilitate smoother trade and travel.
Finally, Khan met ECO Secretary General Arshad Majeed to discuss regional transport initiatives. They reaffirmed commitment to the Istanbul-Tehran-Islamabad Trade Corridor. The corridor is expected to significantly boost intra-regional trade and improve logistics links. Officials said it will serve as a vital route for economic cooperation and regional growth.
