PML-N gears up for by-elections with strong lineup

Published on: October 23, 2025 6:17 PM

The Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) has announced a powerful entry into the upcoming by-elections across Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and Punjab, determined to reclaim its political presence. Central Information Secretary Marriyum Aurangzeb confirmed that the party is fully prepared to contest both National and Provincial Assembly seats, showing its readiness for an aggressive campaign to secure key constituencies. She emphasized that the leadership has finalized a well-thought-out strategy to ensure strong voter outreach and effective ground mobilization.

In a statement, Marriyum Aurangzeb revealed that PML-N has awarded tickets to six candidates across crucial constituencies in both provinces. For the National Assembly, Babar Nawaz Khan has been given the ticket for NA-18 Haripur, while Mahmood Qadir Leghari will represent the party in NA-185 Dera Ghazi Khan. These selections highlight PML-N’s intent to strengthen its foothold in politically significant regions where voter loyalty remains deeply rooted in past party performances.

Moreover, the party has finalized four candidates for the Punjab Assembly by-elections, ensuring a strong regional presence. Mian Sultan Ali Ranjha will contest from PP-73 Sargodha, whereas Iqbal Khan Pitafi will represent PML-N from PP-269 Muzaffargarh. Additionally, Muhammad Tahir Pervaiz has been awarded the ticket for PP-115, and Rana Ahmed Shehryar will run from PP-116. With these candidates, the party aims to build momentum and restore confidence among its supporters at the grassroots level.

Aurangzeb further stressed that PML-N’s campaign will focus on connecting with citizens through practical policies and highlighting the government’s past record of development and stability. She noted that the party’s renewed focus on organization and communication will help strengthen its outreach, especially among young and first-time voters. The leadership has also directed local party offices to intensify their efforts in door-to-door campaigns and public meetings.

As by-election preparations gain pace, political observers are closely watching how PML-N’s aggressive approach shapes the electoral landscape in both provinces. The upcoming contests are expected to serve as an early test of the party’s political momentum ahead of future general elections. With renewed energy, strategic planning, and experienced candidates, PML-N appears ready to make a determined comeback in the country’s political arena.
