Government launches national health complaint cell for reforms

Published on: October 22, 2025 7:17 PM

The federal government has announced the establishment of a National Health Complaint Management Cell to streamline health-related data collection and improve evidence-based policymaking across Pakistan. The initiative, led by the National Institute of Health (NIH), aims to create a unified platform for recording, tracking, and addressing health complaints received from citizens nationwide. Officials said the step marks a major advancement toward better health governance and more efficient coordination between federal, provincial, and district authorities.

Under this plan, the NIH will compile comprehensive data on public health complaints to develop a centralized digital record. This system will allow real-time sharing of information with relevant authorities, enabling quick and coordinated responses to emerging health challenges. By integrating all complaints under one network, the government intends to eliminate data duplication and ensure that no issue goes unnoticed or unresolved.

Currently, multiple institutions maintain separate data systems, which often results in inconsistencies and delays in policymaking. The new centralized complaint cell aims to bridge these gaps by combining information from various sources into one reliable database. With accurate and updated health data, officials will be able to identify recurring issues, assess trends, and take preventive action more efficiently than before.

Officials also stated that the NIH will adopt strict verification protocols to ensure that only authentic and validated disease data is recorded. This verified data will serve as the foundation for future public health strategies and emergency preparedness. Moreover, the Health Ministry plans to use insights from the system to improve healthcare delivery, allocate resources more effectively, and design targeted awareness campaigns based on actual community needs.

Health experts believe the initiative will enhance transparency and accountability in Pakistan’s healthcare system. They added that by empowering citizens to report health issues directly and ensuring timely government response, the National Health Complaint Management Cell could become a crucial step toward building a stronger, data-driven public health framework nationwide.
