Germany calls for emergency conference to rebuild Gaza

Published on: October 10, 2025 5:08 PM

German Chancellor Friedrich Merz has demanded an urgent conference to help rebuild Gaza. He said Germany wants to organize this event together with Egypt. Merz stressed that Gaza urgently needs repairs to its water supply, electricity, and health systems. He pointed out the severe humanitarian crisis caused by recent Israeli military actions. The German government has already pledged 29 million euros, or 34 million dollars, to aid Gaza’s recovery after the ceasefire.

Merz explained that the reconstruction effort must begin immediately to address the basic needs of Gaza’s people. He emphasized that clean water and electricity are essential for health and safety. The healthcare system in Gaza also requires major rebuilding to serve the population properly. The chancellor expressed deep concern over the damage caused by the ongoing conflict. He urged the international community to support swift action and cooperation.

The proposed conference will bring together multiple countries to plan Gaza’s reconstruction. Germany hopes that working with Egypt will help coordinate regional efforts effectively. This joint approach aims to speed up relief and rebuilding projects on the ground. Merz believes a united response can help stabilize the region. He also highlighted the importance of ongoing humanitarian support alongside political solutions.

Earlier, Germany showed its commitment by pledging substantial financial aid for Gaza. The 29 million euro donation is part of immediate efforts after the recent ceasefire deal. This funding targets emergency needs and critical infrastructure repair. German officials have stressed that more international support will be necessary. The chancellor called on other nations to join in helping Gaza rebuild.
