‘Ek Deewane Ki Deewaniyat’ faces backlash for featuring Pakistani song

Published on: September 29, 2025 11:50 PM

Recently, a new controversy erupted in Bollywood when the song “Bol Kaffara Kya Hoga” from the film Ek Deewane Ki Deewaniyat was released.

This song is originally adapted from a Pakistani song, previously used in a Pakistani TV drama. Questions are being raised as to why the producer and director of this film resorted to a Pakistani song when India is distancing itself from Pakistan in every field, be it cricket, films or business?

On the one hand, the Indian cricket team even refrained from accepting the trophy from Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) Chairman Mohsin Naqvi during the Asia Cup 2023 to avoid any pro-Pakistan image. On the other hand, some Bollywood producers are still trying to force Pakistani content on Indian audiences. This directly goes against the sentiments of the country and the current political and social climate.

At a time when there is a ban on Pakistani artists and content in the Indian entertainment industry, this move reflects double standards. Is this simply an attempt to capitalise on the popularity of an old hit Pakistani song? Or is it a deliberate strategy to stir controversy and bring the film into the spotlight?

At a time when any cultural connection to Pakistan is being questioned in the country, a film’s adoption of a Pakistani song is only fueling unnecessary controversy. It is being seen as tampering with audience sentiments and a move against national policy. Now let’s talk about the film. Ek Deewane Ki Deewaniyat is a romantic-drama film starring Harshvardhan Rane and Sonam Bajwa. The film is directed by Milap Zaveri and produced by Ankul Rajendra Garg and Dinesh Jain. The film is written by Milap Zaveri and Mustaq Sheikh. The film’s story revolves around passionate love and betrayal, but it has now become more talked about for its controversial song than its content.
