Erdogan urges global action for Gaza, calls Israel ‘out of control’ at UN

Published on: September 23, 2025 9:07 PM

Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan delivered a powerful speech at the United Nations General Assembly. He demanded an immediate ceasefire in Gaza and condemned Israel’s recent strike on Qatar. Erdogan said Israel is no longer limiting attacks to occupied territories but threatens the entire region. He called the Qatar attack proof that Israel’s leadership is “completely out of control.” He urged world leaders to act quickly to restore peace.

Erdogan showed heartbreaking images of malnourished Palestinians in Gaza to highlight their suffering. He asked the world to reflect on the ongoing brutality in 2025. He described the Gaza war as one of humanity’s darkest moments. Erdogan questioned how anyone could stay silent while children starve and medical help is blocked. His emotional appeal pushed for urgent humanitarian aid and protection for innocent civilians.

The Turkish president also condemned Israel for killing over 250 journalists and many aid workers in Gaza. He praised UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres for drawing attention to the crisis. However, Erdogan criticized the UN for failing to protect its personnel and stop the violence. He called for accountability for those committing genocide and urged global solidarity with Palestinians. He warned that silence makes countries accomplices to this cruelty.

Erdogan highlighted the absence of Palestinian leaders at the UN due to visa denials by the US. He expressed regret over Mahmoud Abbas’s absence, saying Palestinians’ voices are being silenced. Erdogan thanked countries recognizing Palestine and urged others to do the same quickly. He condemned the US decision, calling it a violation of UN agreements. His speech stressed the importance of Palestinian statehood recognition on the global stage.

Finally, Erdogan spoke about Turkey’s ongoing efforts to mediate peace between Russia and Ukraine. He reaffirmed Turkey’s commitment to facilitate talks and achieve a ceasefire soon. Erdogan also expressed hope for a new Syria, free from terrorism and conflict. He pledged military support for rebuilding Syria as a united nation. Throughout his speech, Erdogan called for courage and action from world leaders to end wars and suffering worldwide.
