The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government has released Rs8 billion to assist flood-affected areas, confirmed Provincial Finance Adviser Muzammil Aslam. He stated that Rs1.5 billion was disbursed yesterday alone to support urgent relief activities across the province.
Out of the total allocation, Rs1 billion has been dedicated to providing food stamps, while each flood victim has received Rs15,000 in cash to purchase dry ration. The government has also set aside Rs500 million specifically for relief efforts in merged districts.
Moreover, the Communication and Works Department received Rs1.56 billion for road clearance and repair operations, ensuring that critical routes remain accessible. Additionally, Rs61 million has been allocated to Tehsil Municipal Administrations to support local relief and recovery measures in affected areas.
Chief Minister Ali Amin Gandapur directed authorities to expedite compensation for flood victims and accelerate the rehabilitation process. He chaired a video-link meeting with officials from affected districts to review ongoing relief and recovery operations, emphasizing swift action to restore normalcy.
Officials informed the meeting that recent floods claimed 411 lives, with compensation already provided to families of 352 victims. Data collection on damaged homes has also been completed, enabling timely compensation for 367 fully destroyed and 1,094 partially damaged houses.
CM Gandapur instructed Deputy Commissioners to personally oversee the restoration of damaged infrastructure. He stressed that rehabilitation must begin immediately after compensation payments, ensuring that roads, schools, and public facilities are rebuilt promptly to support affected communities.7u
