The government has taken a major step toward creating a uniform service structure for all civil armed forces, including the Pakistan Rangers and Frontier Corps (FC). A high-level committee has been formed under the Minister of State for Interior to lead the process, aiming to standardize ranks, salaries, and allowances across the board.
This committee will be co-chaired by the Federal Secretary of Interior and includes key members from various ministries and military departments. These include representatives from the Ministry of Finance, Establishment Division, and Directorate of Military Operations. Additionally, the Joint Secretary of the Interior Ministry will serve as the committee’s secretary.
The plan, once implemented, will ensure that all civil armed forces receive equal treatment in terms of their service benefits. This means personnel from the Punjab Rangers, Sindh Rangers, FC North in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, and FC South in Balochistan will be brought under the same service umbrella. Moreover, the committee will work on suggesting a practical and detailed roadmap for execution.
Besides the main regional forces, other departments like the Pakistan Coast Guards, Gilgit-Baltistan Scouts, and Federal Constabulary are also included in this reform plan. These organizations will have their representation in the committee to ensure balanced and inclusive decision-making.
Through this initiative, the government seeks to remove long-standing differences in pay structures and ranks among the civil armed forces. By creating a fair and uniform system, the reform aims to boost morale, efficiency, and coordination among these security forces.
The committee is expected to submit its recommendations after carefully evaluating the existing structures and identifying the necessary adjustments. Once finalized, these changes could set a precedent for future improvements in Pakistan’s internal security framework.
