Sindh Chief Minister Murad Ali Shah has reaffirmed his commitment to upgrading the province’s education system to international standards. Speaking at a ceremony in Karachi, he called the launch of the teaching licence a historic milestone. He stated that the future of Sindh’s education will be shaped through knowledge, ethics, and a strong focus on quality.
Highlighting the crucial role of teachers, CM Murad said that no reform can succeed without empowering educators. He added that the introduction of licences will uplift both the dignity and performance of teaching professionals. According to him, this bold move will improve educational outcomes by ensuring only competent individuals enter classrooms.
Moreover, the chief minister expressed pride over the completion of Sindh’s first-ever teaching licence test. He described the initiative as revolutionary, promoting both accountability and competence. However, he pointed out that only 16% of candidates passed the exam, which shows the urgency for better teacher training and support.
In his speech, CM Murad stressed the need for more teachers across the province. “We cannot leave people in darkness after showing them light,” he said, emphasizing how essential early education is in a child’s life. He also recalled how personal and memorable a student’s first school experience is.
The chief minister also touched upon the decline in school functionality, saying that the situation worsened over decades. To reverse this, the government is now ensuring merit-based hiring. “Unlike politics, which needs no licence, education must demand responsibility,” he remarked, underlining the seriousness of the new policy.
Concluding his address, CM Murad praised teachers, saying he respects them as much as he respects his parents. He added that great teachers find joy in their students’ success. “Whenever I was scolded by my leadership, it was always for unfinished work in someone’s area,” he reflected with humility.
