Pakistani TikTok star and actress Jannat Mirza has resurfaced in the spotlight after a 2020 interview clip went viral, in which she claimed she was offered a lead role opposite Bollywood actor Kartik Aaryan—but declined the opportunity.
In the video, originally from a YouTube interview, Jannat says she refused the offer because of personal and cultural reasons. She explained, “My father wouldn’t allow me to work in an Indian film, and frankly, I never wanted to.” Mirza added she has no desire to work in Bollywood, despite the scale of the offer.
While she did not reveal the name or details of the film, the claim has sparked renewed interest in her career choices. Jannat has previously stated that she also turned down roles in popular Pakistani dramas like “Hum Kahan Ke Sachay Thay” (offered the negative role played by Kubra Khan) and “Parizaad” (the role of Ayesha, played by Ushna Shah).
Jannat made her film debut in the Punjabi movie “Tere Bajre Di Rakhi”, directed by veteran filmmaker Syed Noor, with actress Saima playing her mother. However, the film failed to perform at the box office. She has since appeared in several TV commercials but has not featured in any major drama or big-budget film.
The resurfacing of her old statement about Bollywood has ignited debate on social media, with fans divided between admiration for her decision and skepticism about the offer. Despite criticism, Jannat continues to enjoy a massive fanbase, particularly among Gen Z audiences on TikTok and Instagram.
