Pakistan’s U16 volleyball team has made a spectacular run at the Asian U16 Volleyball Championship in Thailand by qualifying for the semifinals. In the first crossover round match, Pakistan faced Indonesia and won decisively 3-0, with set scores of 25-23, 25-20, and 25-20.
After winning all three matches in the preliminary group stage without dropping a set, Pakistan entered the crossover round brimming with confidence. The first set was closely contested, with Pakistan initially trailing 3-12, but the team staged an impressive comeback led by aggressive attacks and strong defense, denying Indonesia any chance to recover.
Pakistan showed clear dominance in attack and blocking. The team scored 37 attack points and 14 block points, while Indonesia managed only 3 block points and 34 attack points. Despite this, Indonesia had an edge in service points, showing moments of strong serving pressure.
Standout performers included Mohammad Junaid, who contributed 15 points, including 10 from powerful attacks. Faizanullah also played a key role with 11 points, supported by solid performances from Saran Baig and Talha Mehr, both vital in defense and offense.
The win puts Pakistan and Iran, both unbeaten so far in the crossover Group F, into the semifinals. Their upcoming match will decide the final seeding and who Pakistan will face next in the championship.
Beyond this success, Pakistan’s flawless run — winning four matches straight without losing a set — has earned the team a spot in the Under-17 World Championship next year, boosting hopes for the future of volleyball in Pakistan.
This remarkable progress reflects growing investment in youth sports and the rising talent pool in Pakistan’s volleyball scene.
