Islamabad, July 14, 2025 – Federal Minister for National Health Services Syed Mustafa Kamal chaired a high-level meeting of the Drug Regulatory Authority of Pakistan (DRAP) in Islamabad. Senior officials including Federal Secretary Syed Waqar ul Hassan, Additional Secretary Health, and the CEO of DRAP were present. The meeting reviewed progress on digitizing Pakistan’s medical devices regulatory system.
The Minister emphasized that health sector reforms are a top government priority. He made it clear that the government would not tolerate any compromise on the health of citizens or the quality of medicines. He described digitization as a critical part of building a modern, transparent, and efficient health regulation system.
Mustafa Kamal shared that Pakistan is moving to an online platform for the registration and licensing of medical devices. This shift, he said, will help simplify procedures, reduce delays, and ensure better oversight. He added that the reform will also unlock economic potential in the pharmaceutical and devices sector.
The Minister noted that an integrated national strategy is also being developed to boost pharmaceutical exports. This will help Pakistan enter global markets and bring economic benefits while improving access to quality products at home.
The meeting ended with a joint commitment to accelerate reforms. Officials agreed to strengthen DRAP as a citizen-focused, transparent, and innovation-driven institution, ensuring safe and timely access to quality healthcare for every Pakistani.
