Keamari Police successfully thwarted a major inter-provincial smuggling attempt after intercepting a truck loaded with over three tons of high-quality betel nut, a key ingredient in the banned gutka/mawa disguised as a cement consignment. According to SSP Keamari, Captain (R) Faizan Ali, the Mochko Check Post team stopped a suspicious truck arriving from Hub, falsely marked as carrying cement. Upon inspection, 147 out of 340 cement bags were found to be filled with betel nut, weighing approximately 3,001 kilograms. The truck driver, Muhammad Naseer, son of Abdul Sattar, was arrested on the spot. The truck (registration TTB-814) and the seized material have been handed over to Pakistan Customs for further legal proceedings. The operation is part of Keamari Police’s broader campaign against inter-provincial smuggling, illegal gutka/mawa trade, and the distribution of hazardous substances in Karachi, the SSP Keamari said.
