Pakistan and Türkiye have reaffirmed their commitment to strengthen strategic and economic cooperation, aiming to raise their bilateral trade volume to $5 billion in the coming years. This agreement was made during the visit of Turkish Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan and Defence Minister Yaşar Güler to Islamabad, where they met Pakistan’s Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar.
The meeting, held under the High-Level Strategic Cooperation Council (HLSCC), highlighted the historic brotherly relations between the two nations, rooted in shared culture, faith, and history. Ishaq Dar welcomed the growing momentum and stressed expanding collaboration in trade, investment, and energy sectors.
Turkish Foreign Minister Fidan, conveying greetings from President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan, emphasized Ankara’s commitment to deepening partnership with Pakistan. The visit also marked the first session of the Joint Commission under HLSCC, with all twelve working committees actively progressing on mutual commitments.
Preparations are underway for the upcoming Joint Ministerial Commission (JMC) meeting, to be co-chaired by Turkish Defence Minister Yaşar Güler and Pakistan’s Commerce Minister Jam Kamal Khan. The JMC aims to further enhance economic and sectoral cooperation between both countries.
The officials also exchanged views on regional and global developments, reiterating their shared dedication to peace, stability, and growth in the region. Both sides expressed confidence that their high-level engagements will continue translating goodwill into concrete outcomes.
