Trump claims he saved Iran’s supreme leader – but got no thanks

Published on: June 28, 2025 12:41 PM

U.S. President Donald Trump has claimed that he protected Iran’s Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei during a tense time. He revealed that he stopped American and Israeli forces from targeting Khamenei. Trump said he knew exactly where the Iranian leader was hiding. However, he added with disappointment that Khamenei never thanked him for sparing his life.

Trump also criticized Khamenei for falsely claiming victory over Israel in a recent conflict. He called the statement foolish and dishonest. “He knows it is a lie,” Trump said. “An honest person should not speak falsehoods.” Trump argued that such remarks damage any hope for future peace talks.

He said that before Khamenei’s speech, he was seriously working on easing U.S. sanctions on Iran. Trump believed his efforts could have helped Iran recover and rejoin the global economy. But after hearing Khamenei’s angry and hateful words, he ended all plans immediately. “His attitude ruined everything,” Trump added.

Trump also warned Iran to rejoin the world system or face more trouble. He said if Iran continues with this aggressive tone, things will get worse. However, he also offered a chance for peace. He said Iran must act wisely and speak respectfully to move forward. “There is still a way back,” he noted.

Trump’s unexpected comments have grabbed global attention. They revealed secret decisions made during rising U.S.–Iran tensions. Many analysts now wonder if Iran will respond or ignore Trump’s claims. Meanwhile, the world is watching closely to see what comes next in this complex relationship.
