ISLAMABAD – Former Foreign Minister Bilawal Bhutto Zardari strongly condemned the recent US strike on Iran’s nuclear facilities, calling it a violation of international law and a threat to regional peace. Speaking in the National Assembly, Bilawal criticized Israel’s role in provoking the attack and warned of the dangerous consequences of escalating tensions in the Middle East.
Bilawal stated that Israel’s accusations against Iran were baseless, as Tehran has repeatedly clarified its nuclear program is for peaceful purposes. “This strike not only violated Iran’s sovereignty but endangered millions of lives across the region,” he said, adding that even the UN Security Council has shown concern over the US action.
He also accused Israel of dragging the US into conflict, following similar patterns seen in Gaza, Iraq, and Lebanon. Bilawal stressed the need for global powers to act with wisdom and patience. “If we don’t raise our voice now, no one will speak up when we are the target,” he warned.
Switching to regional matters, Bilawal issued a stern warning to India over the Indus Waters Treaty. He said any attempt by Delhi to block Pakistan’s water supply would be considered an act of war. “We will defend our rivers with full force,” he declared, adding that Pakistan’s military is always ready to protect national interests.
Addressing the federal budget, Bilawal appreciated the government’s efforts to provide relief to salaried individuals and pensioners. However, he criticized the lack of support for provinces battling terrorism and expressed concern over increased taxes on agriculture and solar energy. “Farmers are suffering, and an agricultural emergency must be declared,” he emphasized.
He concluded by urging unity to solve national challenges, particularly water scarcity and economic struggles. “We must protect our farmers, rethink our tax policies, and ensure smart irrigation systems for the future,” he said, calling for bold steps toward sustainable development and regional peace.
