PM Shehbaz testifies via video in Rs10 billion defamation case against Imran Khan

Published on: April 19, 2025 9:49 PM

Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif appeared in a Lahore court via video link during a hearing of his defamation case against Imran Khan. The court completed the cross-examination of his affidavit in the Rs10 billion lawsuit.

Shehbaz stated that Imran Khan made false claims on TV, accusing him of offering Rs10 billion to withdraw the Panama case. He denied these claims and said the suit was filed before a district judge, as recorded.

The cross-examination, led by PTI’s lawyer Muhammad Hussain, included questions about where the suit was filed. A brief power outage interrupted the hearing, but it resumed once electricity returned.

The court has summoned Shehbaz again to continue the cross-examination on April 25. The defamation case dates back to 2017 and revolves around allegations Imran made during his speeches.
