KARACHI: The Muttahida Quami Movement (MQM) Coordination Committee has protested the unwanted and illegal arrest of MQM workers and supporters and their shifting to undisclosed places, and termed it a conspiracy against the law and the constitution of Pakistan. In a statement on Saturday, the MQM Coordination Committee members said that the arrest of MQM workers and supporters and keeping them at undisclosed places under the garb of targeted operation was being done under a planned conspiracy that had created uncertainty and spread fear in every nook and corner of Karachi. The said that the Rangers in the wee hours of Saturday raided a house in Liaquatabad and arrested a member of unit committee, Muhammad Asif. “Even on Friday, plainclothesmen arrested Muhammad Jawed, son-in-law of MQM Elders Wing member Muhammad Ejaz. Muhammad Jawed’s son Muhammad Ali Khan was also arrested by them.” They expressed grave concerns over the ever-increasing raids and arrests of party workers and supporters from almost every part of the city and added that the MQM Orangi Town Sector Unit 124 member Anees, son of Hanif, was also arrested the other day. They MQM Coordination Committee members said that these illegal raids and arrests had exposed the tall claims of a democratic government and termed the present government as worse than the ear of previous ‘martial law’ tenures. They said that arrests of the innocent MQM workers and supporters must immediately be stopped and the targeted operation be focused purely on the real terrorists and enemies of the state.
