By Haider Ali LAHORE: The district administration has earned more than Rs 31 million in terms of fine from shopkeepers on the violation of price hike and stockpiling in 2015. According to the DCO Lahore spokesman, the price control magistrates along with town officials have checked thousands of shops and markets across the city to provide relief to citizens on daily routine items. He said that the DCO Lahore increased the number of magistrates from 89 to 104 for checking the shops and markets in order to stop violation of price hike and stockpiling in the warehouses. He said that on the direction of DCO, they had launched the Whatsapp group for keeping an eye on filed performances of magistrates and towns administration, adding that 12,971 First Information Reports had been registered in the several police stations of the city and 19,884 shopkeepers were arrested. The spokesman also informed that district administrations also took several stern steps on multiple issues against marriage hall owners and catering services for implementation of Marriage Act, fake doctors and clinics, medical stories, owners of dilapidated buildings and implementation of fire safety arrangements in the building, dengue prevention, polio campaign besides resolving matters of citizens for which applications had received on their complaint cell. He informed that 214 cases were registered in the nine towns of the city against the owners of the marriage halls and catering services for violating the Marriage Act, adding that 55 marriage halls were sealed and 282 people arrested in 2015. As well 110 application were submitted against them on the violation of One Dish and do not maintain the marriage hall timings announced by the Punjab government. As many as 1,582 complaints were received on Citizen Feedback Cell about different issues, the spokesman said, adding that reservation of 1,566 citizen have been removed, while remaining 16 cases would be solved as soon. In the year 2015, 448 buildings were declared dangerous by CDGL according to survey report, which was conducted under the supervision of the executive district officer (Municipal Services). District administration demolished 68 buildings, evacuated 67 buildings and sealed 34 buildings during 2015. However, other buildings are still in the use of the citizens, which make a cause of any serious incident. The Civil Defense Department issued 487 tickets (Challans) to the owners of the commercial building on the violation of the safety measure arrangements and their cases were moved to the courts. They ensured safety arrangements in the 572 commercial buildings. Talking about polio campaign, the spokesman said three-day polio campaign was observed 11 times in the city, which launched by health department of the city district administration. He informed that 2,956 employees were hired for dengue campaign and thousands of dengue larvae were eradicated from the 85,000 places.
