ISLAMABAD: The Interior Ministry has directed the authorities concerned to tighten the noose around the necks of the federal police officials involved in corruption and dishonest practices. As a first step, the National Accountability Bureau (NAB) has been told to make a list of the federal police officials who either used to openly demand money from people in different cases or made property with the money earned beyond their means. As a second step, the list would be submitted to the Ministry of Interior, which would stop promotions and postings of such officials to lucrative posts. As a third step, the sources said, the NAB would register cases against the corrupt officials of the Islamabad Capital Territory Police, arrest them and have them punished according to the relevant law. The Special Branch has been assigned the task to collect the data of the houses, vehicles, plots and shopping plazas owned by federal police officers. The move has created unrest among the police officials. The sources said that new Inspector General of Islamabad Police Tariq Masood Yasin had ordered the officials concerned to prepare a list of the officers who had not been transferred for years. Some police officers grabbed plots in different housing societies in the areas of Golra and Tarnol. Information about the residential plots grabbed by the police officers is also being collected. It’s said that the new chief of the capital police is working to bring the crime ratio in the federal capital to zero.
