LAHORE: Wheelchair bound artist Muniba Mazari’s solo exhibition kicked off at The Collectors Galleria on Tuesday. The six-day exhibition would continue until April 24 for public. As many as 27 selected acrylic paintings have been put on display for the exhibition in which Mazari’s artistic approach and thinking highlights ‘flawless portrayal of true emotions’ through her paintings. A large number of art lovers and people from different walks of life thronged to the gallery and admired her artwork. On the occasion, Muniba Mazari said it is not easy to paint with a free mind when you are wheelchair bound. “Yet, I know it is the only way through which I can spread the message of strength and courage. I forget my pain and paint to encourage myself and the people, as I believe in spreading the message of ‘Never Give Up’,” she added. Curator Mahnaz Sukhera said Mazari aims to give her clients the best of her artistic abilities. She said that Mazari believes in playing with vibrant colours and faultless depiction of true sentiment. “Her work speaks her heart out and is all about people, their expressions, dreams and aspirations,” she added. Sukhera said although Mazari is wheelchair bound, but her spirit and artistry knows no bounds. “In fact, she takes the agony of spinal cord injury as a challenge, which makes her more determined to express her sentiments through her artwork. She said that Mazari is a mix media artist and believes in depicting the ethnic jewels of her region in an abstract way. “Some of her work is purely abstract and depicts the humans’ expressions, their thoughts and dreams. Her paintings give the message of living life and represent the real personality of the artist,” she added. Muniba Mazari is a Pakistani artist, writer and motivational speaker. She is wheelchair-bound due to a car accident at the age of 21. She gives credit of her artwork to her father, who was her first teacher. She has also established her brand, known as Muniba’s Canvas with the slogan ‘Let Your Walls Wear Colours’.
