ISLAMABAD – Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Chairman Imran Khan on Wednesday announced postponement of his party’s next rally in Faisalabad in view of ‘harassment’ of participant women and girls during The Mall rally in Lahore. “We will ensure exemplary punishment for those who harassed women at the rally,” he said, adding that the police on the spot failed to protect the participants from the goons of the Pakistan Muslim League-N, a ruling but rival party. Punjab government spokesperson Zaeem Qadri called the incident as disappointing and condemnable. The Civil Lines police registered a case against the unidentified activists for misbehaving with the participant women at the party’s gathering held on Sunday. According to the police, the case has been registered under Articles 506, 394, 147 and 354A. They said that evidences have been collected from the footages and the culprits have also been identified. Punjab Minister for Law Rana Sanaullah said that over 50 culprits have been identified with the help of footages acquired through various sources. On Monday, the minister said that Imran Khan should be able to provide security to all participants including the women and the girls if the PTI chief can organise rallies.
