ISLAMABAD: Decision has been taken to install CCTV cameras in all police stations of the federal capital to curb corruption by federal police and stop inhuman treatment with the complainants therein. State of the art system will be provided in all police stations for the purpose of monitoring and the entire process will be monitored from central hub installed on the office of Inspector General’s office. The Interior Minister has also given green signal in this connection and shortly the completion of installation of the system. The project is most probably to be approved in the budget for next financial year 2016-17. Sources told Daily Times that Chinese company will be assigned the work for installing CCTV cameras in the police stations in Islamabad. The Chinese company which had installed CCTV cameras in Safe City Project would do this job. The other modern system and IT system will be introduced for conducting monitoring in the police stations. The inspector General Islamabad has taken the decision for installing CCTV cameras in the view of complaints about massive corruption plagued the federal police system besides maltreatment meted out with the citizens in police stations. The Inspector General Islamabad had ordered arrest of constable of Sabzi Mandi Police Station on the complaint of a citizen a few days back who was charged with taking bribe amounting to Rs 20,000 from the complainant. He has launched several measures against corrupt police officers.
