ISLAMABAD: Despite the interference and hurdles of some government departments, National Accountability Bureau (NAB) is committed to continue the nation-wide drive against corrupt elements and Chairman NAB Qamar Zaman took some important initiatives regarding the volunteer return and reward money, NAB sources told Daily Times. Chairman NAB has finished the 25 percent share of the NAB officials in the recovery of looted money and all the money goes to national exchequer now, but the Chairman, as alternate started the award schemes for investigative officers and prosecutors of every region, the sources said. Although NAB ordinance allows us 25 percent share after the recovery of looted money but there was lot of criticism on NAB due to this and in this regard Chairman NAB himself took decision to eliminate this scheme and whole NAB supported this announcement made by the chief, nab official revealed to this scribe. The sources said that Chairman NAB also stopped the NAB officials to offer volunteer return to the corrupt elements or officials, the procedure is now totally changed, inquiry would be completed in two months against any corrupt person on complaint, and if he accepts the allegations during inquiry and offers the volunteer return of all looted and corruption money, then his case would be send to NAB Court and now its up to the court weather he accepts the offer of criminal or not, nab would not have any role. “Yes these are some drastic steps Chairman NAB has taken, which help to enhance the performance of NAB, Nawazish Ali Asim, NAB spokesman told when contacted. The money recovered from Secretary Finance Balochistan Mushtaq Raisani and other corrupt people have been deposited in the government treasury and NAB did not take any share. the spokesman said.
