ISLAMABAD: Pakistan Tourism Development Corporation’s (PTDC) seasonal bus service between Rawalpindi and Naran will start on June 1. It is aimed at promoting domestic tourism in the country. The spokesman of PTDC said that both the national and international tourists could avail the service. He said the bus would start its journey from Flashman’s Hotel Rawalpindi. The travel time for the journey has been set as eight hours. The PTDC Naran motel was situated on the bank of a river and had 60 rooms, huts and cottages for accommodation purposes, he added. The environment of Naran is very pleasant and peaceful. He said PTDC was also providing special discounted tour packages to families, students, group tourists and foreign tourists. The PTDC started the bus service in 1997 which is successfully going on at present. The bus service operates from June to August. Thousands of tourists visited Naran, Kaghan valleyd by utilising this service, he added. He said the PTDC had set up Tourism Friends Club. He also said that a 20 per cent discount would be given to the members on the facilities being provided at all hotels, motels and tourist resorts operating across the country. He said interested persons could get themselves registered with the club by paying Rs 500, while the annual fee would be Rs 1500 for each member. “The purpose of the club is to promote tourism activities and provide better tourist facilities at affordable rates to its members to upkeep and maintain better standards,” he said. The PTDC is operating around 18 Tourist Information Centres all over the country for the last 30 years to provide information, travel guides, brochures and maps to tourists for planning their holidays.
