PESHAWAR: The Peshawar High Court (PHC) on Wednesday issued directions to Federal Ministry of Petroleum for the provision of gas connection to NA-13, of Swabi district. The petition filed by Member of National Assembly (MNA) Aqib Ullah Khan through his lawyer Advocate Sabitullah Khan was heard by two member’s bench Justice Waqar Ahmad and Justice Musarat Hilali. Advocate Sabitullah Khan informed the bench that thousands of families of NA-13 of Swabi district have been deprived of gas connection and the pipe of gas pass through nearby the constituency. He argued that the KP Government has already provided Rs 50 million to Sui Northeren Gas Pipe Line (SNGPL) for gas connections in KP. The Federal Ministry of Petroleum is making lame excuses in the provision of gas connections in the constituency as the MNA is the member of the opposition party in the National Assembly, he argued. The two member bench of the PHC issued directions to Federal Ministry of Petroleum for the provision of gas connections to the constituency. Separately, MNA Aqib Ullah Khan said while talking to media outside the PHC that a strong agitation will be launched if the federal government could not abide by the direction of PHC. During media talk MNA was flanked by his brother and Speaker KP Assembly Asad Qasir and said that Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf (PTI) has given mandate to provide the basic necessities of life to its public at door step.
