ISLAMABAD: Chief of Army Staff General Raheel Sharif on Wednesday said that failure was not an option in the war against terrorism. At a reception hosted by National Assembly Speaker Sardar Ayaz Sadiq after the joint session of parliament, Gen Raheel briefed President Mamnoon Hussain on progress in Operation Zarb-e-Azb and the return of temporarily displaced persons (TDPs), besides other issues of national importance. The COAS told the president that ‘the word unfortunate was very small for US drone attack in Balochistan that killed Mullah Akhtar Mansour’. He said the strike was in violation of Pakistan’s sovereignty and integrity, and added that US has already been conveyed that ‘such attacks are unacceptable to Pakistan’. The COAS told the president that the TDPs were going back to their homes. He said 58 percent of the TDPs had already returned and the remaining will be sent back by November this year. On China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC), the COAS said that any conspiracies against this project will be thwarted. Talking to journalists on the occasion, the COAS said, “Our success rate in the war against terrorism is 99 percent and we will make sure it climbs to 100 percent.” He said the terrorists will not be allowed to come back to the areas already cleared by security forces.
