ISLAMABAD: In defiance of SC orders, the federal police high ups have taken no action to demote 291 police officers who were granted out of turn promotion and all are still sticking to the higher posts. IGP Islamabad through a letter had issued orders for withdrawing promotions of 291 police officers including one SP and four DSPs. But these officers have not relinquished their posts even seven days after the issuance of orders. SC had ordered for reverting of the officers who were given out of turn promotions to their previous lower posts. IG Police Islamabad Tariq Masood Yasin told Daily Times “our senior officers are performing duties in other provinces in connection with recruitment in the police; therefore, the demotion process has been delayed. Sources said that all the police officers who were promoted out of turn are present in Islamabad and are performing their duties on receptive seats. Sources stated demotion of most of the officers is being delayed for the reason that these officers are gearing the pace of their efforts to retire against senior posts. They want that they are retired against the present higher posts so that they don’t lose their esteem and prestige in police department. It is pertinent to mention here that if these officers are demoted then most of them will have to work under their junior officers. The higher authorities in police department are deliberately delaying their demotion so that the officers who want to retire should proceed on retirement to avoid demotion.
