ISLAMABAD: The death toll in a violent overnight incident which took place at Bani Gala, a posh area of Islamabad , has reached five. According to details the Federal Minister for SAFRON, Abdul Qadir Baloch’s gunman had killed the female owner of the house in indiscriminate firing after being enraged over receiving a notice for vacating the house. Later on he committed suicide. Constable Mehmood barged into a house located at Al-Noor Street in the area of Bani Gala Police Station on the night between Wednesday and Thursday and opened indiscriminate firing. Two persons, Gul Nisa, owner of the house and plumber Arshad were killed on the spot while Iram, daughter in law of Gul Nisa and her grandson Hussain Ali were seriously injured. The police rushed to the scene. The bodies and the injured were taken to PIMS. The injured also succumbed to his injuries in the hospital. The killer constable Mehmood fired on his temple with his gun and died on the spot. The death toll reached five. According to the police the incident took place due to a dispute over the house which was hired by police constable Mehmood from Gul Nisa in Bahra Kahu where his family members were living. Two months back, the owner of the house had got her house vacated from Mehmood. The police said it seemed that the matter of the vacation of the house had infuriated the accused. The police have not registered a case so far but the bodies have been sent to the Pakistan Institute of Medical Science (PIMS) for post-mortem. The police said that Mehmood hailed from Bahawalpur and was deployed in the anti-terrorism squad of the police. He was included in the personal security squad of Federal Minister Lt Gen (Retd) Abdul Qadir Baloch. The police further said that Mehmood was performing security duty for the federal minister at a function. In the meantime he left the duty place by saying to his fellow guard that he was leaving for some urgent work and he should inform the federal minister as well in this regard. He went to the house of Gul Nisa and went back to his house after sitting there for some time. He returned soon to Gul Nisa’s house and opened indiscriminate firing with his gun killing four persons including two women and a child. Later on he killed himself by shooting from his own gun.
