LAHORE: City Traffic Police has finalised traffic arrangements in the provincial capital for the upcoming Eidul Fitar to maintain the traffic flow besides facilitating the road users as well as keeping a vigilant eye on anti-state elements. More than 2,000 traffic officers would perform their duties across the city to avoid any untoward incident near important markets and its surrounding areas. This decision was taken in a meeting on Wednesday due to increase of public gatherings in markets, bazaars and malls for shopping. Chief Traffic Officer (CTO) Tayyab Hafeez Cheema said that a comprehensive traffic plan has been finalised on these special days to maintain traffic flow near all sensitive and highly sensitive places across the city. He said more than 2,000 traffic officials including SPs, DSPs, inspectors and traffic wardens would perform their duties across the city. The security of the important places was also reviewed in detail and it was decided that Quick Response Force (QRF), Dolphin Force, Police Response Unit (PRU) and other forces in plainclothes would perform their duties on daily basis. CTP also decided to depute at least 2,500 traffic police officials to facilitate road users on different city roads and other important public places. The CTO said a comprehensive traffic plan has also been evolved to maintain traffic flow near Eid Gahs and important mosques, adding that under the supervision of two SPs, at least 10 DSPs, 38 traffic inspectors, 14 patrolling officers and 329 traffic wardens also performed their duties across the city near important markets, adding that nine additional traffic inspectors and 118 traffic wardens deputed in city division areas near important markets and bazaars to maintain the traffic flow.
