LAHORE: The Data Gunj Bakhsh Town administration has demolished an under-construction plaza on Thursday during its operation against illegal construction of commercial buildings at Nisbat Road. TOR Shahzad Qureshi led the operation along with other team members. Qureshi said that the administration had issued several notices to stop the construction besides mentioning procedures of getting approval for the construction, but the owner did not take the matter seriously. He said that construction of the two-storey building along with basement on four marlas was illegal, adding that the administration has demolished the building, as it was violating the Map and Building by-laws. The town municipal officers would submit a detailed report in the High Level Design Committee (HLDC) meeting to be held today (Friday). As many as 161 buildings, which were constructed on the various main roads of the city, still seek approval from HLDC. The meeting would be take final decision about the fate of these buildings. According to details, District Coordination Officer (DCO) Lahore captain (r) Muhammad Usman has directed the town municipal officers to submit a detailed report on collection of data of buildings from EDO (Finance) Tariq Manzoor Chandio in the next meeting. The areas where illegal construction was taking place include Allama Iqbal Town, Wahgah Town, Gulberg Town, Data Town and Shalimar Town.
