Sir: How can Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif even dare to take any action against his close buddy, Mehmood Khan Achakzai, who in an interview with Afghanistan Times tells the world that Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KPK) belongs to Afghanistan instead of Pakistan? Wasn’t PM Sharif aware of Achakzai’s stance on Afghanistan and the so-called state of Pashtoonistan previously? Didn’t he know about Achakzai and his family’s alleged anti-state stance and activities in the past? Despite being aware of all this, Achakzai’s brother was appointed the Governor of Balochistan. If Achakzai deserves any punishment, then his mentor, PM Sharif, certainly deserves a more rigorous punishment than his friend as both belong to the same school of thought. Achakzai must be booked under Article 6 for his anti-Pakistan remarks and be held accountable. It seems as if such statements are being released to systematically corner Pakistan and preventive measures must be adopted on priority. FAUZIA SALEEM NIAZI Islamabad
