ISLAMABAD: Pakistan has decided to take up the issue of the cost of gas purchase with Iran as Pakistan thinks that the price of the Pak Iran gas pipe line is much higher, the ministry of petroleum sources said. Official sources said that on the directions of the minister for petroleum Shahid Khaqan Abbasi ,the ministry had sent a summery to the cabinet committee of economic coordination so that approval could be obtained to start the negotiations on gas tariff with the Iranian government. The Peoples Party government,during its tenure did an agreement with Iran on high prices and according to the agreement Iranian gas is much costly even then LNG, sources said. The price of LNG is six dollars while the tarrif of Iranian gas is 8 dollars MMBTU so in this situation Pakistan has decided to renegotiate the price with Iran and a delegation of the ministry of petroleum would visit Tehran during this month,sources concluded.
