KARACHI: In order to deliver services with honesty, majority of Provincial Ministers, secretaries and officer’s perform Umrah yearly on government expenses and enjoying foreign trips without ex-Pakistan leave is a routine trend now. According to details, the Chief Minister Sindh Syed Qaim Ali Shah and several other Ministers, bureaucrats had left for Saudi Arab to perform Umrah in the end of the month of Ramadan and will return on July 5th, 2016 before Eid. Daily Times has learnt that almost every year the activities of Sindh government departments are hampered in province due to people going for Umrah before Eid holidays. The ministers, secretaries and officials along with dearest and nearest perform Umrah on government expenses, which aggravate the corruption practices. Government officials have contributed very little over the years and corruption has been rampant. The compensation perks and benefits to bureaucrats are key factors for their firm commitment, so that governments therefore sponsor and arrange lucrative perks and benefits for civil servants and in return performance sources told. Daily Times learnt that the government officers are enjoying perks and privileges during their jobs and heavy corruption, the office took used vehicles away, while performing Umrah every year with favourite government contractors and friends in each department but no accountability. Recently, a long list of Ministers, Secretaries and officers, among Chief Minister Sindh Syed Qaim Ali Shah was one, were in Saudi Arabia performing Umrah on government expenses. Despite all the perks bureaucrats enjoyed, they inflicted this burden on the national exchequer. Daily Times, in this connection tried to contact Sindh government spokesman among Advisor to Chief Minister Sindh for Information and Archives, Maula Bux Chandio and Secretary Sindh Information Department Aijaz Ahmed Memon, but none of them answered calls. He also met with the president of Bohri Jamait, Business and Trade community discussed law and order situation and assured his full support of security during Eid bazaars and other shopping activities on the occasion. Home Minister Sohail directed police officials to ensure strict security measures at mosques during Jumma prayers to avoid any unpleasant incidents and keep away vehicular traffic cars and motorcycles from parking. The police alerted all the shopkeepers and concerned markets to empty footpaths on the occasion. In this regard, strict compliance of Security Plan on the juncture of Youm-ul-Quds rally was also required. Police force along with Rangers was deployed around the road of Purani Numaish to Tibet Centre at the time of Youm-ul-Quds rally. Moreover, Police Commandos were positioned on rooftops of high buildings. Meanwhile, Sindh Home Minister Sohail Siyal took notice of the death of an inmate in Larkana prison. He asked the Jail Superintendent to make arrangements for the future.
