LAHORE: Pakistan Muslim League (PML) senior central leader Chaudhary Pervez Elahi has demanded trial of Pakhtunkhwa Milli Awami Party (PkMAP) chief Mahmood Khan Achakzai under Article 6 of the constitution. Achakzai has violated the constitution by talking against security and solidarity of Pakistan. All patriotic parties including the opposition should take action against him in this regard, said Elahi while addressing a press conference along with Mian Muhammad Munir and Azeemuddin Lakhvi here on Sunday. Elahi said that statement of Achakzai amounted to treason with blood of Pakistani Army and the people who laid down their lives for liberation of Afghanistan. “He had displayed hostility towards Pakistan by not condemning attack on the Ziarat residence of the Quaid-i-Azam and criticizing Pak Army, he said. He said that Pak-Afghan international border was recognised by the entire world. “The UN has also declared Afghans who migrated to Pakistan after Russian occupation as refugees. Showing copies of the oath of Achakzai as MNA and his brother Muhammad Khan Achakzai as Balochistan governor, Elahi said that the oath Achakzai took as MNA bound him to work for solidarity and prosperity of Pakistan. He said that silence of Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif over his (Achakzai) statement was quite meaningful. He alleged that Achakzai’s statement reflected the mindset of PML-N government. Durand Line had been declared an international border since 1983 and no one ever termed it controversial but Achakzai’s statement had proved his loyalty towards Pakistan. Responding to a question, Elahi said that poor pensioners were being suffered whereas Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif and his family was shopping in the costliest stores of London. At the very outset of his talk, Elahi expressed heartfelt grief and sorrow over losses of lives and property due to floods in Chitral and conveyed his sympathies for the flood hit people.
