LAHORE: At least twelve people were killed while eleven others lost their lives in roadside accidents across the provincial metropolis during the last three days of Eidul Fitr. At least eleven people lost their lives and over 1,000 citizens got injuries due to one-wheeling, overspeeding and underage driving during the last three days of Eidul Fitr. Around 325 injured people were taken to Lahore General Hospital, 158 to Services Hospital, 118 to Jinnah Hospital, 210 to Mayo Hospital and 275 injured persons were rushed to Ganga Ram Hospital. It was reported that eight persons died in Lahore General Hospital, two in Services Hospital and one succumbed to his injuries in Jinnah Hospital. As per details, two persons expired in a hospital shortly after they had received injuries in different roadside accidents. The deceased persons, identified as Afzal and Boota, had sustained injuries in roadside accidents in Kahna and Raiwind respectively. Meanwhile, a bike rider lost his life by performing stunts on his bike near Fortress Stadium. The deceased rider was identified as Imran. In another incident, a man identified as Kabir lost his life in a roadside accident on Kot Abdul Malik Road. A youth was killed in a collision between two cars and a bike on Jail Road. Police handed over the bodies to the heirs after completing legal formalities and registered 74 cases on charges of one-wheeling and arrested 100 one-wheelers besides impounding 150 bikes in various police stations of the city. At least six persons including two women and two children were injured when a speeding car hit two motorcycles on Canal Road, Harbanspura and plunged into the canal. Upon being informed, the rescuers rushed to the scene and shifted the injured people to a nearby hospital.
