OKARA: As many as six militants were killed while two security personnel sustained injuries in a gun battle in a village near Okara during the wee hours on Wednesday. Sources said that the intelligence agencies and the police launched a joint operation on a tip-off in village 28 L-2 near Okara upon which the militants present in the area opened fire. Four militants were identified as Amir Sohaib, Saeed-ur-Rehman, Sami and Yasib-ur-Rehman and the identity of rest of the detained had not been confirmed. The arrested militants are from Hangu, Attock, Bannu and Shangla. It is reported that some militants managed to escape amid security operation but no official confirmation in this connection had been received till the filing of this report. District Police Officer Faisal Rana said that the operation against the militants was carried out on the information about their presence, allegedly belonging to the Al-Qaeda, in a house at a village near Okara. He said that the shootout left six militants dead and two security personnel injured. He added that arms and ammunition were also recovered from the house. The security agencies returned the fire as a result of which six militants were killed. At least two law enforcement agencies personnel were wounded in exchange of fire as well. Rocket launchers, explosive materials and other weapons were also recovered from them. The agencies cordoned the area and launched a search operation.
