The Islamabad High Court (IHC) on Tuesday extended the interim bail of former president Asif Ali Zardari until January 19, in a case related to a suspicious transaction of Rs8 billion in the money laundering case. The former president sought an extension in his bail and exemption from the court appearance owing to his medical condition. The court will now continue the further hearing of the case on January 19. Former president Asif Ali Zardari’s medical report was submitted with the court on Monday last, stating that he’d sustained head injuries during a fall. Zardari’s counsel Farooq H Naek had filed an application with the court requesting that his client be exempted from appearing in person in the fake bank accounts case. The medical report further revealed that the ex-president was readmitted to a hospital on November 22. The report said the ex-president had a swelling in his head and pain on the left side of the chest after the fall adding that the chest pain increased whenever he walked. Zardari also complained of tension and pain in the lower back. The report said a CT scan of the ex-president’s brain was also conducted and he was advised against travelling on medical grounds.
