SWABI: Former Member of the Provisional Assembly (MPA) and senior leader of the Awami National Party (ANP) Haji Shoaib Khan was shot dead by unknown attackers in Swabi’s Yarhussain area. According to the reports, unknown armed motorcycle riders opened indiscriminate firing on Haji Shoaib Khan when he was present at his hujra in Yarhussain village of Tehsil Chota Lahor. Resultantly, Shoaib Khan sustained multiple injuries and was shifted to Peshawar Lady Reading Hospital in critical condition where he succumbed to his wounds. Police said that the incident was apparently an incident of targeted attack. Police have registered FIR and launched raids to nab the attackers. However, ANP leadership has announced 10 days of mourning. A search operation and investigation are underway. Haji Shoaib Khan was a dedicated nationalist leader and follower of Khan Abdul Ghaffar Khan’s (Bacha Khan). He was also considered as Baba-e-Swabi following the death of former ANP leader and parliamentarian Haji Rahmanullah.
