No one from the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) including its vice president Maryam Nawaz attended a meeting of the Pakistan Democratic Movement (PDM) at Bilawal House in Karachi to discuss the agenda of the Karachi rally, a private TV channel reported. Pakistan People’s Party Chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari and Jamiat Ulema-i-Islam-Fazl (JUI-F) chief Maulana Fazlur Rehman held a consultation over the agenda and message to be propagated during the public gathering of the multi-party alliance of opposition parties in Karachi. Maryam Nawaz who was scheduled to reach Bilawal House for the meeting did not arrive there on time. During her absence, Bilawal Bhutto Zardari and Maulana Fazlur Rehman discussed overall political situation and ways to take forward the movement of the opposition parties. Earlier in the day, while talking to reporters in Lahore, Maryam Nawaz said neither she nor her party leaders are afraid of arrests. She said the protest campaign against the PTI government is entering a decisive phase. When asked about the prime minister’s decision not to issue production orders for the detained opposition lawmakers, the PML-N vice-president maintained that those who think that VIP protocols are being given to the political leaders in jails are wrong. While responding to a question about Imran Khan dubbing the Gujranwala rally as a circus, Maryam Nawaz hit back at the prime minister, saying, “It was a speech of a defeated person. Mian Nawaz Sharif did not even address the prime minister; he had said this ‘game’ is above you (Imran Khan) and you should stay out of it.” The PML-N vice-president said, “The government is unable to see things right now, but it will all be clearer to them in a few days.”
