LAHORE: National Highways and Motorway Police (NH&MP) Inspector General Shaukat Hayat announced that special educational and welfare package would be introduced for the disabled children of employees as well as children of martyred officials. He was addressing the families of martyred police officials at NH&MP Zonal Office on Monday. DIG Mirza Faran Baig and SSP Masroor Alam Kolachi were also present on the occasion. The IG appreciated the contribution of martyred officials and ensured the families that their contributions would never be neglected. IG Hayat said that discipline played crucial role in establishing professionalism in any organisation, adding that NH&MP thrived on honesty and courtesy besides its mission of rendering help to road users. He said that service-oriented force and provision of prompt help to the distressed road users was the hallmark of the department, adding that well-mannered conduct with commuters, courtesy and indiscriminate enforcement of law must be ensured to enhance the image of the department. Hayat ordered the officials to ensure equal application of law, irrespective of one’s status. He laid stress on quick and timely response to helpline 130. “It’s the prime responsibility of NH&MP to provide safe and secure travelling to the road users. I would visit motorways and highways to ensure implementation of law in true spirit so that secure roads could be provided to the people of Pakistan,” he added. Later, the IG distributed certificates among the officers who showed extraordinary performance in their duties. He also listened to the problems faced by the officers and issued necessary instructions to redress their grievances.
